The Regional Summit is coming up on June 9th from 6-8pm at the Horizon Convention Center and there is a lot of buzz about the event and East Central Indiana’s participation in the Regional Cities Initiative.

The summit meeting will gather information for the state’s Regional Cities Initiative and — organizers hope — lead to securing a portion of $84 million in funds for projects in the multi-county region.
“There’ll be an explanation of the overall economic well-being of the region, hopefully a lot of feedback on types of projects they’d like to see and a vision for what East Central Indiana will be like in the future,” said Terry Murphy of the Economic Development Alliance.
Officials want to solicit as much information as they can and prepare a list of 50 or more projects with the potential for state funding. One could be improvements to downtown Muncie or riverfront development, EDA’s Traci Lutton said.
